Under the general supervision of the City Manager, the City Clerk serves as secretary to the City Council, oversees voter registration and all elections and is responsible for the maintenance of all official City records, documents and ordinances.  The Clerk also administers oaths of office and serves as official custodian of the City seal.

Under the general supervision of the City Clerk, the Deputy Clerk serves as an administrative assistant, performing a wide range of clerical, customer service, and support functions for the City.  Responsibilities include supporting City meetings and elections, taking payments, permit processing, and handling a variety of administrative support tasks at City Hall.

VOTING INFORMATION

Registered voters within the City of Saugatuck cast their ballots at City Hall at 102 Butler St. Saugatuck, MI 49453.
Any questions regarding elections or voting may be directed to the City Clerk at 269-857-2603, or by email – [email protected]

  • Register to Vote​
    • If Registering to Vote 14 days or less prior to an Election you wish to vote in, you must register in the Zeeland City Clerk's office in person with proof of residency.
  • Apply for an Absentee Ballot Online 
    • Voters not on a automatic Ballot Send list will need to request and complete and return an application for absentee ballot for each election in order to receive a ballot. You may come in to the City Clerk's Office, or go online and complete this application. 
    • To request to be sent a ballot automatically each election, you may come in to the City Clerk's Office, or go online and complete this application.
    • Last Day an Absentee Ballot can be mailed to a voter is the Saturday prior to election day.  The City Clerk's Office is generally open the Saturday prior to election from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Call to verify hours or check online at www.Michigan.gov/vote.
    • Every Ballot returned to the Clerk's office by the close of polls on Election day (8:00 p.m.) will be counted.
